General Rules
1. The Badger Kick-Off Classic Steer and Heifer Show is an open show.
2. All out-of-state cattle must present health papers meeting Wisconsin requirements.
3. Electrical power is limited; we encourage the use of generators. Generators and propane heaters are not allowed in the barns.
4. Pre-entries are due postmarked on or before November 20, 2007 and are non-refundable. No pre-entries will be accepted without entry fees and release of liability form.
5. Junior showmanship is open to all youth ages 8- 21 as of January 1, 2007. Showmanship registration will occur at the show.
6. The University of Wisconsin Saddle & Sirloin is not liable for any accidents or losses. Saddle & Sirloin also reserves the right to interpret and mandate rules as needed.
7. Facilities will include heated wash rack and show ring.
8. Release of liability form must be signed and turned in with show entry.
9. No bedding is provided or available for sale on grounds. We request exhibitors use shavings or bark, but it is not required.
10. Chutes are not allowed in barns until registration is completed.
11. Badger Kick-Off Classic staff reserves the right to cut tack space if needed.
12. Eight head are required to maintain a breed division. If there is not eight head present of a particular breed, the animals will show in the Any Other Breed division. If there is not eight head present in the Market Heifer division, the animals will show in the Crossbred Steer division.
13. Animals showing in breed classes must have registration papers or certificates stating the animal meets breed qualifications as defined by the respective breed association. Steers and market heifers may have a bill of sale stating the breed. A bill of sale will NOT be accepted for breeding heifers.
14. Low percentage classes will be assigned for breeding heifers if there are more than eight head entered. Papered percentage animals will show as a percentage animal, not as a purebred. If there are not eight percentage animals of one breed they will show in the AOB division. (Ex. Purebred Simmental and Low % Simmental will not show together.) Steer classes will be determined based on what the breed association recognizes.
15. Heifers are only allowed to show as either a market heifer or a breeding heifer.
16. Animals may only go through the chute ONE time.
Breeding Heifer Rules
1. Heifers will be shown by breed and age.
2. Commercial Heifers will be shown by weight.
3. Original or breed association duplicate registration papers are acceptable and required for breed heifers. Faxed copies are acceptable. A fax machine is not available on the grounds.
4. Heifers must be born on or after September 1, 2006.
Market Animal Rules
1. Steers will be shown by breed and weight. Market heifers will be shown as one breed and by weight.
2. You must provide an original registration paper, a breed association duplicate copy or a bill of sale in order to show in a breed class. Faxed copies are acceptable. A fax machine is not available on the grounds.
3. Steers and market heifers must be born on or after January 1, 2007.
